The Aromatherapists Society

CONSTITUTION.

1. The name of the Society shall be ‘The Aromatherapists Society’. The Aromatherapists Society consists of full members and student members only. These will be Practitioners and students in the discipline of Aromatherapy.

2. The objectives of The Aromatherapists Society shall be the preservation of health by furthering the knowledge, practice and expertise in aromatherapy by education, teaching, training and information sharing.

3. Membership of The Aromatherapists Society shall be open to individuals who hold any certified qualification in aromatherapy or who are training on a certified course.

4. The affairs of The Aromatherapists Society shall be administered by its members represented by an international co-ordinator.

5. All members shall pay to The Aromatherapists Society such minimum subscription as may be fixed from time to time by the co-ordinators. Payment is to be made on the due date for the period of up to one year.

6. Subscriptions shall pay for the running of the society.

7. Membership shall terminate:

i.  Upon receipt by The Aromatherapists Society of written notice of resignation.

ii. On the annual subscription being unpaid for a period of two months from the due date.

iii.Any member in breach of the Constitution or The Aromatherapists Society code of conduct, ethics and practice may be expelled from the society.

8. Any area co-ordinators shall cause a record of affairs and attendance to be made at their meetings.

9. The co-ordinators shall cause a record of proper accounting and auditing procedures to be followed.

10. The Aromatherapists Society shall have a code of conduct, ethics and practice which shall be binding to all members, home or abroad.

11. Each full member shall have one vote based on their membership number for any matter requiring a vote and any resolutions made shall be on a majority decision.

12. The Aromatherapists Society will maintain an office funded by the member subscriptions for:

i. The daily running of the society.

ii. The maintenance of a register of members.

iii. The provision of public liability insurance for members.

iv The provision of a newsletter for members.

v. Liaison with the public, Government etc. in all matters relating to the society.

vi.The co-ordination of regional and national meeting of the society.

vii. To provide representatives for external communication.

13. The Aromatherapists Society shall provide and maintain a web site for the dissemination of information, communication to and between members and regional groups.
